Racing for safety
A competitor in the individual survival suit relay drags his dummy ashore on Sunday during the Seafair Safety Rodeo on the Homer Spit. The individual winner was Matt Clarke, with a time of 2 minutes, 48 seconds. Jud Brandt (3:30) was second. In the safety rodeo crew competition, Team Sedge 1 finished in 7:44 to beat out the City of Homer's Harbor Tug Team (8:38.) The event was sponsored by the Homer Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Coast Guard, among others.
