City Manager Larry Farnen survives an attempted coup by unsatisfied members of the Homer City Council after what looked like a one-vote majority evaporated in a wisp of second thoughts and alleged misunderstandings.

Farnen was criticized for his "authoritarian" management style in an audit.

The Kachemak Bay king crab season was cancelled before it began this year, while other area harvests fall short.
