The Homer Chamber of Commerce will play host to a forum for candidates running for mayor as well as the three-year city council seats at noon on Wednesday at the Best Western Bidarka Inn.
The event is free and open to the public, though the optional lunch is $10.
Mayoral candidates Harry Gregoire and Jack Cushing will be on hand, as will three-year seat candidates Rose Beck, Charles Davis Jr., Mike Yourkowski, Gary Gil Mayforth and Stan Welles.
On Sept. 18, there will be another forum for candidates for one- and two-year city council seats. Same time, same place.
Those candidates are: two-year seat -- Doug Stark, Conley Croom, Pat Cue; one-year seat -- Rick Ladd, Ray Kranich, Alexander Clark, Hank Boelter and Doris Cabana.
With 13 council candidates and two mayoral hopefuls, the discussions should be lively, according to Derotha Ferraro, executive director of the chamber.
"We haven't seen this kind of competition in a long time," she said. "What an exciting moment for Homer that this many people want to serve."
