Stephen Poor

October 23, 1947 June 2, 2012

Ninilchik resident, Mr. Stephen Poor, 63, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. No services were held at his request.

Mr. Poor was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Indiana. He graduated from high school and soon after joined the Navy. In 1987, Stephen moved to Alaska, living in Bethel and Ninilchik. He worked for the Bethel High School as a school safety officer for many years before retiring. Stephen was a member of the Ninilchik Senior Center and a proud winner of Ducks Unlimited Trophy. He loved fishing for king salmon, hunting, looking at the ocean and more hunting and fishing.

His daughter wrote, Stephen was a wonderful friend to many. Most will remember his fishing and hunting adventures and tales. He will be missed by many, but his memories will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Lenette Poor of Idyllwild, Calif., and Michelle Keene of Sweet Home, Ore.; son, Gregg Poor of Ore.; brothers, Jon Poor of Riverside, Calif., and Scott Poor of LaGrande, Ore.; granddaughters, Brittani Herena of Riverside, Noelle Herena of Idyllwild and Madison Herena of Idyllwild; great-grandson, Aidyn Ragadale of Riverside, Noah Ragsdale of Riverside and grandson, David Keene of Sweet Home.
