Homer Alaska - Oped -

Story last updated at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2008

What do you think of Palin for Vice President?

Just like the rest of the country

Excellent Choice - 64 votes - 52%
He should have chosen someone else - 60 votes - 48%

I don't know if it's the "best" choice or the "right" choice, but it must be said that it is "excellent" in terms of "shaking things up."

Helen Newton,

Sandpoint, Idaho

I think that John McCain picking Gov. Palin was excellent because she brings the no-nonsense, do-what-is right attitude and committment. Not what is most convenient and offers the path of least resistance. I think once people see and hear what she has to offer, that she will be liked nationwide as much as she is in Alaska.

Joshua Rae,

Anchor Point

Alaska is already a Republican state, so she doesn't bring that to the campaign. The McCain campaign didn't ask questions of the principals involved in Troop- ergate and that could be a drag on the campaign. There are more experienced qualified candidates for the VP office.

Tom Gee, Maui

She's the one!

Carolyn Andrews,

Marion, N. C.

Recommended by Bush to sell ANWR drilling.

Gary Tamms,

Long Beach, Calif.

I have followed Palin since she became the governor of Alaska. I don't think that McCain could have chosen a better running mate. Being an avid outdoorsman, I think the best interests of the people of Alaska and of our country come first to her! She's not afraid to get her hands dirty!

Allen Dodd, Casper, Wyo.

Homer is my favorite place to visit. I am so happy that the governor of Alaska is the VP candidate. She understands what to do regarding the energy crisis. She is simply amazing. She is a wonderful woman. Thanks to Alaska! She is so much better than Obama, who did not even care enough of women to vet Hillary Clinton as VP candidate. Obama also seems to align himself with radicals who want to tax and spend ... with no regard to the American household budgets. So nice to have a practical governor of Alaska now running for office. Thanks to all.

Susan Kaiser,

Milpitas, Calif.

Online question: What do you think of Republican presidential candidate John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate?

Excellent choice: 64 votes (52 percent)

He should have chosen someone else: 60 votes (48 percent)
