Studded-tire reminder issued

With fall in the air, the Alaska Department of Public Safety issued a reminder regarding studded tires. State statute makes it illegal to operate vehicles with studded tires on paved roads north of 60 degrees north latitude (north of Ninilchik) from May 1-Sept. 15. For communities south of 60 degrees north latitude, it is illegal to operate vehicles with studded tires on paved roads from April 15-Sept. 30.
