Fish and Game thankful
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has concluded its salmon-stocking program for the 2002 season. More than 200,000 silver salmon and 210,000 king salmon were stocked in the Fishing Hole on the Homer Spit this year. As in past years, the Sport Shed, located across from the Fishing Hole, generously provided space to store fish food, recruited volunteer fish feeders and did a considerable amount of the fish-feeding chores themselves.

Halibut Cove Lagoon and Seldovia each received 100,000 king salmon as well. Alaska State Parks personnel and volunteers assembled the holding pens and fed and released the king smolts in Halibut Cove Lagoon. City of Seldovia personnel readied the stocking area and released kings in Seldovia. Thanks to all who helped with the Kachemak Bay stocking projects this summer. You make this program happen.
