* Mount Spurr erupts and, while no ash was reported to have fallen in the Homer area, Homer-to-Anchorage flights were canceled indefinitely.
* C.E. Abeldgard, who recently built a road to the beach and a retaining wall to shore up the bluff property off Ocean Drive, may be liable for fines up to $50,000 for not applying for a permit to build in high-value wetlands in the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. --from the issue of Aug. 20, 1992
