The remainder of the Fishing Lagoon will be open for fishing to anglers of all ages. The Omicron chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a service organization of women educators, is holding its annual "Back to School Supplies Project" during August. The public is encouraged to help local children in need have a positive start to the school year by donating school supplies for clients of the Homer Community Food Pantry. Donations may be dropped off at the brightly decorated receptacle inside Ulmer's, where there also is a list of needed supplies. More than 120 children in Homer and Anchor Point areas will benefit from the community's donations.

The public is invited to make a donation to the Homer Community Food Pantry at the Saturday Farmers' Market. For more information, call Judi Nester at 235-1238, Diana Jeska at 235-1968 or email judi@longpassages.org.
