South Peninsula Behavioral Health Services holds its monthly board of directors meeting at 6 p.m. in the Community Mental Health Center's board room. Call 235-7701.

Vessels of Hope sponsors The Thursday Dialogues 7-9 p.m. at the Community Resource Center, 182 East Pioneer Ave. This week's presentation is "Alternative Energy in Homer," with information on fuel cells, solar and wind technology, and electric vehicles, including a new electric scooter. Terry Thompson presents a slide show and lecture on Alaska bats at 7 p.m. at the Wynn Nature Center.

Saturday, Aug. 10

Wynn Nature Center hosts a family program, "Digging Up the Past," 10 a.m.-noon.

Rose Beck and Claudia Ehli host an open Garden and Tea Party 1 to 3 p.m. at their home at 4774 Kachemak Drive.

Sunday, Aug. 11

Evangelist Wayne Nelson speaks at Family Vacation Bible School 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. nightly Monday-Wednesday at Anchor Point Baptist Church. Classes will be provided for ages 5 to adult, with nursery provided for younger children of attending families. Call Pastor Dick Goodwin at 235-1257.

Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies and the Pratt Museum host an outing to Yukon Island with tide-pooling on a minus 3.7 low tide, archaeology with Janet Klein and a potluck lunch with soup, bread and drinks provided. Check in at the Salty Dawg on the Spit at 7:15 a.m. The cost for CACS or Pratt members is $40 for adults or $20 for children under 12, and for nonmembers it's $65 for adults or $30 for children under 12.
