Running club holds fun runs

Kachemak Bay Running Club is holding 6 p.m. Tuesday evening community fun runs during the month of August. Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate. The runs began this week with "Brew Two by Two," offering two- and four-mile routes that began and ended at the Homer Brewery. Coming up are:

• Aug. 14: "Highland Jaunt," a 3.5-mile route that begins and ends at the corner of Highland Drive and West Hill Road;

• Aug. 21: "Homestead Trail Run," a 3.1-mile route that begins and ends at the Rogers Loop trailhead; and

• Aug. 28: "Top of the Town Run," a 6.2-mile route that begins and ends at the Skyline Drive Lookout parking lot.

Volleyball, basketball refs needed

Another season of high school volleyball and basketball will soon be here. Volleyball starts soon and the junior high basketball season starts in October.
