Riding her horse Araucano, 18-year-old Alicia Hall won her second Mayor's Cup at the William Clark Chamberlin Equestrian Center in Anchorage July 14. A 2011 graduate of Homer High, Hall surpassed many of Alaska's best riders to win the show jumping competition. Show jumping is an Olympic sport where the fastest time over a course of high jumps and tight turns wins. Men and women compete together in the same event. Hall trains at her family's farm in Portage. She is a regular top contestant of state and national equestrian competitions, including taking a silver medal at the 2010 USEF Pony Jumping National Championship in Lexington, Ken.
