The couple met in Fairbanks five years ago at a stoplight and through a mutual friend. Stephen proposed to Dora at Lavelle's Bistro in Fairbanks Nov. 21, 2006, after asking her father for permission.
Stephen, the son of the late Faye Barfield of Fairbanks and Steve Barfield of Winston-Salem, N.C., is a 2002 graduate of North Pole High. He is a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 375 and is currently a fourth-year apprentice welder.
Stephen and Dora enjoy fishing, dirt biking, cooking, their Sheltie dogs and spending time with family and friends.
In 2006, Stephen and Dora bought their first house in Fairbanks and plan to stay in the Fairbanks and North Pole area for many years.
An Alaska reception will follow in late November in Fairbanks.
Dora is the daughter of Joan and Mitch Crane of Homer. She attended high school in Homer and California and graduated in Fairbanks.
