Two business workshops scheduled for August

The Alaska Small Business Develop-ment Center has scheduled the following two workshops for August at the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center:

• A "Benefits of Budgeting" workshop will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 24.

Cost is $30.

Bryan Zak, Southwest region director of the small business development center, will provide participants with methods to monitor, measure and manage the amount of cash moving through their business.

"Establishing budgets is the vital element that keeps every business financially healthy. This workshop will guide you through the process," according to a press release from the business center.

Online registration is required by Aug. 17.

• A free "Starting A Business" seminar will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 30.

Zak will cover basic questions and offer helpful resources in this two-hour workshop. He will prepare participants for productive relationships with the business center and its partner programs, and explain the value of its free counseling services.

The registration deadline is Aug. 24.
