The Homer High School football team will check out equipment to incoming players on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Players who have not yet signed up for Mariner football may do so during that time.
Two-a-day practice starts Monday, with workouts from 7-9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Salmon group to meet
There will be a meeting of the King Salmon Task Force on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Land's End Resort.
The group will meet to discuss ways to regulate the lower Cook Inlet marine king salmon sport fishery, which was included earlier this year in a five-fish annual bag limit for kings caught in either salt or fresh water.

With the season less than three weeks away, Homer High School is in hot pursuit of a head varsity football coach.
The high school football season, including preseason practices, runs from July 29-Oct. 12. The position offers a salary of $3,698. The application deadline is Monday.
The high school is also searching for coaches for its varsity hockey, C-team boys basketball and boys soccer teams.
Cross country practice
The Homer High School cross country team will hold its first practice Monday at 10 a.m. Runners meet in the high school commons. There will be a two-a-day schedule with a second practice scheduled at 7 p.m. Call 235-6090 for details.
