'V.J.' Vinal F. Jones

His family wrote, "V.J. loved Alaska. He lived here his entire life. The Last Frontier was very special to him, especially everything outdoors. He enjoyed camping by the waterfall at the family's homestead in Ninilchik. This is also where he spent his childhood growing up in a rugged, subsistence lifestyle. His greatest passion was motorcycles. He was a phenomenal mechanic and was very proud of his German heritage. He traveled to Germany as a teen, and wished to return there someday to taste the spetzle and stout beer again. V.J. was a son, big brother, father, uncle, papa and friend. His tough exterior always gave way to a soft spot for family and friends. As a single father, he raised his little girl by himself, forming a special bond that will be cherished forever. He was an amazingly tender and attentive grandfather (papa). V.J. was a highly intelligent man with a down-to-earth personality and perspective on life."

He is survived by his daughter Mariah Simpson (Jones); grandchildren Justice "Scooby," Tobias, Tytus and Liberty; his parents, Wayne and Dora Jones of Homer; brother and sister-in-law Dwayne and Kim Jones of Kenmore, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law Etta and Angelo Toci of Anchor Point; nieces and nephews Isaac Jones and Simon Jones of Kenmore, Wash.; A.J. Toci and Amanda Toci of Anchor Point; numerous family members in Germany; and a crew of friends and co-workers at Cable Tech. Inc. in Anchorage.

His ashes will be laid to rest at the family homestead in Ninilchik. His loving spirit will be released amongst a gathering of family and friends.
