Homer Recorders Office closed temporarily

The State of Alaska Homer Recorders Office is temporarily closed. It will reopen at 8:30 a.m. July 28. The closure began July 18.

Alternate recording will be done in Anchorage. Mail recordings to:

Borough annex to be closed July 27-Aug. 8

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Homer Annex will be closed July 27-Aug. 8 for renovations. The annex is located at 206 E. Pioneer Ave., Suite 1.

To pick up any of the forms listed below, please visit the borough's Homer Maintenance Office at 638 E. Pioneer Ave. (next to the Homer Volunteer Fire Department).

Clerk's Office: Candidacy packets for mayor, assembly, school board and service area seats. (Filing opens Aug. 1.)

Assessing: $20,000 home owner exemption; disabled resident exemption; disabled veteran exemption; and senior exemption.

Finance: certificate of registration; sales tax return; resale certificate; exempt certificate; owner-builder certificate; resident housing exemption; and change of name/address (businesses only).

Road Service: right of way driveway permit; right of way citizen maintenance; right of way construction permit; road maintenance; weight restriction waiver; and sign request form.

City has vouchers for towing of junk cars

Vouchers for free towing of junk cars and fluid removal and disposal are still available. Vehicles must be empty and there must be proof of property ownership. For more information, contact the Planning Office at 235-3106 or stop by City Hall.

Peony growers to meet in Homer Aug. 19-21

Alaska Peony Growers Association will hold their summer conference at the Homer Elks Lodge Aug. 19-21. Between 100 and 150 people are expected to attend.

There are opportunities for businesses to advertise, offer silent auction items as well as put their "goodie" items into the hands of the conference attendees.
