Celebration of life for Heinze held July 17

STAFF REPORT

A celebration of life for Cheryll Boren Heinze, who died from injuries sustained in a July 10 plane crash on Beluga Lake, was held at the Lazy Mountain Bible Church in Palmer on Tuesday.

Heinze represented House District 24 in the 23rd Alaska State Legislature. She was elected in 2002 and served in 2003 and 2004.

At the time of her death, she was the human resource and public affairs director for Matanuska Electric Association. She was married to Harold Heinze, the former Alaska Department of Natural Resources commissioner who also served as chief of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority.

"She had this wonderful phrase she always used and I wanted to share it with you now: 'Whatever is going on around us, we will do beauty and we will do excellence.' This summed Cheryll up more than anything I could have ever said about her," Kevin Brown, MEA communications manager, said in announcing the celebration of Heinze's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heinze's two favorite charities:

• Talkeetna Build-A-Plane, P.O. Box 848, Talkeetna, AK 99676;

• 4 Paws for Ability, Inc., 1000 Botanical Heights Circle, Anchorage, AK 99515.
