Long Term Care resident Lucy Virginia Wasco, 90, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care in Homer, Alaska.

A visitation will be held at noon July 14, at the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church in Ninilchik. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., followed by burial in the church cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow the burial in the Ninilchik Community Room at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds.

Lucy was born on May 22, 1921, in Allentown, Pa.

"Lucy will be remembered as a hardworking independent lady that tackled challenges head on. She stood strong with unconditional love for her family. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and was always wearing one of her treasures. Lucy truly sparkled. Lucy holds a special place in many hearts. Memory eternal," her family wrote.

Lucy is survived by her son, John Wasco of Bath, Pa.; daughter, Pat Oskolkoff; granddaughters, Jennifer and Christina; and great-grandchildren, Alicia, Michael, Mikylah, Gabriel and Jillian all of Ninilchik; and sisters, Dorothy Schell and Nancy Benard, both of Pennsylvania.

Lucy's family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Long Term Care for all their support and genuine caring that made Lucy's final years ones filled with living.
