Kachemak Emergency Services

July 4-10

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to four medical calls and two fire calls.

July 7

Firefighters and EMTs at 10:07 a.m. went to a dump truck rollover near Mile 165 Sterling Highway. EMTs treated and transported the driver in serious condition to South Peninsula Hospital. The Homer Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid and took the passenger to the hospital. Alaska State Troopers also responded and said both victims wore seatbelts. The truck carried a load of asphalt and spilled the asphalt, blocking both lanes. Firefighters assisted with traffic control and routed traffic through a nearby driveway. Traffic was backed up for three hours.
