Power outage planned for Friday

Homer Electric Association has scheduled a planned outage for the area from Ester Avenue in Anchor Point north along the Sterling Highway through Ninilchik to Leon Windeler Highway (Sterling Highway milepost 127.5).

The planned outage will begin at 10 a.m. Friday and is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.

The planned outage is necessary in order for HEA to perform required maintenance work on system communications equipment, according to a press release.

People are reminded to take precautions to protect sensitive electronic equipment and to stay away from any downed power line. The lines are very dangerous and can cause serious injury or death if contact is made. If you see a downed power line, leave the area and call Homer Electric at (888) 8outage or (888) 868-8243.
