Yakutia Airlines' flight set to arrive today

Yakutia Airlines' inaugural flight was scheduled to arrive at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport this morning.

The flight, which originated from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, was scheduled to arrive at 5:50 a.m. at the airport's North (International) Terminal. After servicing and refueling, the Boeing 737-700 was to embark passengers for Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky for a 7:30 a.m. departure. Passengers may connect at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to destinations throughout Russia.

"We are very excited to have Yakutia Airlines providing seasonal service to Eastern Russia," stated Trudy Wassel, business manager for the airport. "It's great to be opening up a new market for passenger and cargo service."

Yakutia Airlines has been planning this service for several months, receiving final approval from the United States and Russian governments for passenger and cargo service between Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Anchorage in May.

Scheduled service will run weekly through Sept. 13. Tickets are available through Yakutia Airlines' representative in the United States: InterPacific Aviation and Marketing, www.airrussia.us, sales@airrussia.us, telephone number (206) 443-1614.
