Dawn Hoxie picks from her garden. She and her husband, John, are the owners and operators of Alaskan Naturally Grown, located at Mile 2.3 at the Anchor Point end of North Fork Road. They are part of both the Monday Anchor Point Farmers' Market and the Anchor Point Saturday Market and Swap Meet.

The Anchor Point Farmers' Market announces new hours and live music.

The vendors at the Anchor Point market have decided being open from 3-7 p.m. Mondays would be better market hours for everyone. Everyone is invited to come join us in the warm greenhouse an hour earlier.

A special thanks to Luanne Nelson for organizing the local ukulele group to play this past Monday. The group includes many friendly, talented folks who volunteer their time to play at local venues.

Now meet this week's vendor: John and Dawn Hoxie Sr. are the owners and operators of Alaskan Naturally Grown. John and Dawn raise and sell naturally grown produce at their greenhouse at their home.

There they also sell fresh home-baked bread and rolls and homegrown and processed dried herbs. In addition, they mix and sell their own all-natural fertilizer.

The Hoxies try to hold homesteading skill classes during the summer when time allows. They also teach work classes on soil preparation, planting, growing, harvesting, processing and storing food and dried herbs.

They are located at Mile 2.3 at the Anchor Point end of North Fork Road, and are open six days a week for your greenhouse needs.

Alaskan Naturally Grown has lots of work that needs to be tended to and offers many services to the general public, such as, "pick and pay," that help them with their everlasting greenhouse work load.

Pick and pay allows people to come to the greenhouse to trade their work for produce. Besides running a produce business, the Hoxies sell from their store, from their home, at the Anchor Point Saturday Market and Swap Meet, and lastly at the Monday Anchor Point Farmers' Market. Alaskan Naturally Grown accepts WIC checks.

Alaskan Naturally Grown is a sponsor for the Anchor Point Saturday Market and invites you to come out to enjoy the changes that market has undergone.

The Saturday market has expanded into a swap meet as well. Anyone and everyone is welcome to sell their items. Items sold at the Saturday swap meet are not limited to crafts and baked goods, but include all items in need of being sold or traded.

Please call the Hoxies to be part of pick and pay, to attend classes in homesteading, soil preparation, planting, growing, harvesting, processing and storing food and dried herbs, or to be a vendor at the Saturday swap meet. They can be reached at 235-2264 or 399-2069.
