Homer services praised
Dear Editor,

I am writing in regard to the excellent medical care that my wife and I have received while living in Homer. I am 73 years old and my wife Dorothea is 66 years old. I recently had surgery performed by Dr. Alvarez at South Peninsula Hospital. I wish to thank the nurses and staff for the exceptional care that I received.

In 2000 we moved to Anchorage and then to Homer in 2001. We moved from Connecticut, and by comparison it is a blessing to us that we received superior medical care in Alaska. We also know now that, to us, Homer is about the best, most caring and friendly town. That pleasantly surprised us! For the first time, we joined a church here in town, a church of good Christians who put the word of the Bible into practice.

The Homer Senior Center is the best of them all. We have made many good friends since we arrived in August 2001. We wintered over here in our motor home, and I must praise the town workers for keeping the roads clear of snow very quickly, unlike other communities that wait until they get "a round tuit." (The term was popular a few years ago, as it says on my potholder on the fridge.)

We are living a much better life today thanks to all the good people in this town.
