I am writing on behalf of Homer's newly formed chapter of Alaska Youth for Environmental Action, or AYEA. Homer's AYEA is an unlikely group of teenagers bound together by our coming purpose: taking environmental action now.
This fall, from Aug. 10-17, AYEA is hosting a camp in the Tongass National Forest that a portion of Homer's chapter would like to attend. The camp will ready the participants for initiating a community project of their own, as well as expanding their general knowledge of environmental issues.
As August draws nearer, we are beginning our fund-raising movement. The campers need to raise a net sum of $1,750 to pay our admission fees. Hence surfaces my purpose in writing this letter. Frankly, I write to ask for the financial support of any willing donors.
Donations of any sum would be greatly appreciated. Please send donations to: Kachemak Bay Conservation Society, 3734 Ben Walters Lane, Suite 202, Homer.
