Skeeters point for national shooting championships

STAFF REPORT

A small swarm of local youth are on their way to Sparta, Ill., this week for the Scholastic Clay Target Program National Championships.

Ten fifth- through 11th-grade boys from the Kachemak Skeeters shooting team will join another eight from the Grouse Ridge Rangers of Wasilla, the umbrella organization for the two-year-old Homer club, for the competition, which starts Tuesday at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta.

The Skeeters have been earning money through local sponsorship of their volunteer work for the elderly and widows.

Interested boys and girls are welcome to join the Skeeters club, which practices year-round.
