Jeanine Oakland graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biology and allied health from Winona State University, Minn. She is the daughter of Dennis and Kathy Oakland.

Beth Graber, associate professor of English, Kachemak Bay Campus, Kenai Peninsula College, has completed requirements for a Ph.D. in English, rhetoric and composition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her degree will be formally awarded in August. She has served on the faculty since 1987.

American Legion Auxiliary, Ninilchik Unit 18, will award a $500 scholarship to continuing students. The scholarship is open to a veteran or family member of a veteran living on the Kenai Peninsula who is continuing education. The scholarship is not for graduating high school seniors.
