Softball tourney on tap

The District 1 Senior Softball Allstar Tournament will unfold on the Karen Hornaday fields starting Saturday with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m.

Five teams will vie for the round-robin tourney title. The championship game is set for Thursday at 2 p.m.

The winner of the tournament will represent the district at the state tournament.

Saddle up for Rodeo

The Peninsula Horseman's Association Rodeo gets under way Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds. There will be a rodeo pageant and barrel racing competion.

On Saturday, rodeo events begin at 11 a.m. and continue all day. Sunday's action starts at noon.

Sailboat race Saturday

The Homer Yacht Club will hold their Fourth of July Race on Saturday. The skippers' meeting will be at 11 a.m. on P Float in the Homer Small Boat Harbor. The entry fee for the race is $5 and the race is open to all comers. For more information, call Bob Brant 235-8503.
