Water trail meeting set for Wednesday

A Kachemak Bay Water Trail Association meeting will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the City Hall Cowles Council Chambers to introduce the idea of a water trail around Kachemak Bay.

According to the National Park Service, Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program, a water trail, or blueway, is a stretch of river, a shoreline, or an ocean that has been mapped out with the intent to create an educational, scenic and challenging experience for recreational canoers and kayakers. The trails are organized by local volunteers with the help of public officials and private landowners, all of whom promote its proper use and maintenance.

All are welcome, particularly paddlers, small power boaters, water taxi and lodge owners. For more information, visit www.baygateways.net/watertrailtools.cfm, call 235-6018 or email brann@alaska.net.
