Support helps students achieve goals

At this time, I would like to bring attention and gratitude to four exceptional organizations in our community: the Homer Community Science Committee, funded by the Homer Foundation; the Homer Emblem Club; the Kachemack Bay Lions; and the Elks Lodge. Each of these organizations have worked tremendously hard toward the betterment of our community and have all established scholarship funds which have provided a stepping stone to help young individuals such as me achieve their dreams.

In the fall, I plan to attend Beloit College, where I will carry out my longheld desire to achieve two degrees, one in anthropology and another in biology. These dreams would be nearly impossible to achieve without the gracious support of these organizations and others like them to students within our community.

These resources are essential for the success of young people in our town, so I implore the entire community of Homer to provide support to these organizations, which provide a foundation for the future of tomorrow. Once again, thank you so much for bestowing these honors upon me, and I promise to continue to live my life through the principles of dedication, leadership and diligence which are the foundations of your organizations.
