Spit Run set for Saturday

The 27th edition of the Spit Run gets under way Saturday with a 10 a.m. start at Homer High School.

The 10-kilometer race, sponsored by South Peninsula Hospital and the Homer News, drew a field of more than 200 runners or walkers in 2001. The husband and wife duo of Todd and Kelly Jo Boonstra won the men's and women's races, respectively, last year.

Race entry is free for people registering by 5 p.m. today, $5 for race-day registration.

Following the race, there will be a party on the deck of the Land's End with a prize drawing and awards ceremony.
