Parade prizes offered
The Homer Chamber of Commerce is seeking entrants for the annual Fourth of July parade. More than $600 in cash prizes will be awarded in several categories under the theme "Homer of the Free." Sponsored by the chamber and GCI, prizes will be offered for best group, best individual, best use of theme and best bicycle. A $200 grand prize will be awarded for best of show, with $100 offered in other categories. A prize will be awarded to all youth entrants. There is no fee to join the parade, but all entrants are asked to register in advance.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on July 4, with lineup beginning at 5:15 p.m. Starting from Homer High School, the parade route will head west down Pioneer Avenue, ending at the West Campus of Kachemak Bay College.
Entry forms may be picked up at the Homer Chamber of Commerce at 201 Sterling Highway. For more information call the chamber at 235-7740.
