Anchor Point Farmers' Market offers wide variety of goodies

FOR THE HOMER NEWS

Finally summer is here. Other than volleyball games, barbecue dinners, long walks on the beach and camping, heading to the farmers' market for local delights is a great Alaska activity to fit into your beautiful long summer days.

I'm talking about the Anchor Point Farmers' Market, located at the Anchor Point Greenhouse.

Not to confuse people, there is another market in Anchor Point, the Saturday Market, which is held every Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., also along the Sterling Highway. So if you missed the Saturday Market, no worries, come see us at the Monday farmers' market from 4-8 p.m.

Alaska residents and tourists are welcome.

The first couple of markets at the greenhouse already have passed us by. With more unique vendors joining by the week, people have many varieties of goodies from which to choose. Goodies include, but are not limited to, gluten-free cupcakes, fresh baked bread and doughnuts, vegetable starters, loose herbs, beautiful hand-crafted wood work, beautiful etched glass (mugs, wine glasses, party platters, etc.), fun kites, unique handmade jewelry (necklaces, artistic water resistant watches, etc.) and much, much more.

Come meet the locals and see what all the fuss is about.

Events for the upcoming weeks will be displayed in greater detail as the market progresses. Within the next few markets more vegetables and produce will be available. Some vendors are certified organic and some do accept WIC, as well as the senior discount. This is a community effort and a family event. Everyone who is involved in the Anchor Point Farmers' Market appreciates your support.

We hope to see you there.
