Recently I participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life that took place here in Homer. Since I am an employee of Spenard Builders Supply, I decided, with the support of manager Bruce Turkington, to place donation boxes at the registers to provide an opportunity for our customers to get involved.

I was expecting that I would collect a few hundred dollars. To my grateful surprise, we collected $1,111.11. Wow. I would like to thank everyone who so generously donated from the pennies to the hundred dollar bills.
