Les Lee Looby

March 7, 1947 - June 8, 2012

Former Homer resident Les Lee Looby, 65, of Minneapolis passed away June 8, 2012. She was born March 7, 1947, in Minot, N.D.

She spent the early years of her life in Minneapolis. Her young adult life was spent raising her family in Alaska, where she enjoyed many different Alaska professions.She returned to Minneapolis to live and lovingly care for her mother, and this is where she lived for the final years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Margaret Buik; brother Nick Buik; sister Daryl Dee Buik, and her cousin Margaret Shaishnikoff.

Les is lovingly survived by her son Andrew Looby Jr., daughter-in-law Kim Shapsnikoff, and granddaughters Jazzmyne and Marina Shapsnikoff, all of Wasilla; her daughter Amy Stonorov and her husband Ivan Stonorov, and granddaughters Zoe and Hannah Stonorov, all of Homer; her aunt, Carol Looby, her cousin Charles Looby and his wife, Terry, and her many nieces and nephews, all of Minneapolis.

Les will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and the love for her family and friends. She especially loved caring for her elderly friends and neighbors. Her time in Homer was particularly special to her, according to her family.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Faith United Methodist Church, 2708 33rd Ave., NE, St. Anthony, Minn.; (612) 781-3167.
