Artist enriches students experience

Little Fireweed Academy would like to thank Sharlene Cline for the Artist in the Schools Program for the spring residency she created for our students. She is a local expert in Sumi e Painting. She shared her passion for the technique and the Japanese culture with us. Her weeklong presentation with our students included numerous hands-on activities and personal exploration with the medium.

The students proudly presented their personal works in an open house setting for their parents and families. We also would like to thank JoDee Whiteside for assisting the artist through the week. Thank you so much, Sharlene, for giving us such a rich experience.

We also would like to thank the Bunnell Street Arts Center, which sponsors the Artist in the Schools Program, and its supporters: Alaska State Council on the Arts, Homer Foundation, Edgeware Productions, Jazzline, Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and Rasmuson Foundation.
