The employees of the Homer Post Office would like to thank all our customers and the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic for participating in our effort to help "Stamp Out Breast Cancer."
Due to the overwhelming support from the community during this promotion, more than $2,000 was raised by the Homer Post Office for breast cancer research. The Homer office raised more than any other office in the state except the Airport Post Office in Anchorage. Clerks Dori Olson and Brigid McCarthy received recognition for their outstanding effort in this cause. As a result of the May promotion of the semi-postal Breast Cancer stamp, over $18,000 was donated to research from the Alaska District.
To express our thanks, on Thursday, June 6 we invited everyone to stop by for refreshments. The winner of the "greetings from Alaska" tote bag was announced on that day.
We salute the people of Homer for their concern and generous spirit in the fight to find a cure.
Michael Moore, postmaster, for the employees of the Homer Post Office
