Running events raise funds, awareness

Relay for Life

The third Relay for Life of Homer, an event benefiting the American Cancer Society, begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the Homer High School Track and continues until 3 p.m. Saturday, with 18 teams participating. The first lap of the track is dedicated to cancer survivors. A ceremony in memory of those who lost their battle to cancer and honoring survivors is scheduled for later in the evening. The public is invited to come support the event and join walkers as they continue to circle the track. For more information, including a schedule of events throughout the relay, teams participating and how to donate, visit www.relayforlifeofhomer.org.
