Homer Fire

May 30-June 6

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to 10 medical calls and five fire calls.

June 1

Firefighters went to a report of a dog caught in a storm drain at Main Street and Pioneer Avenue.

June 3

Firefighters went to an unattended camp fire at Bishop's Beach that had spread to grass and driftwood, growing to a 20-foot-by-20-foot fire due to high winds. Firefighters put out the fire. The fire department reminds beach visitors to douse fires with water until logs are cold to the touch. Do not cover fires with sand as the wood can smolder and reignite when winds uncover the fire.
