Training room slated to open this Saturday

The Alaska Training Room opens its doors on Saturday. Demonstration classes for children and adults are scheduled between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The public is invited to check out the newly remodeled facility at 1067 Ocean Drive and find out how group circuit training can help individuals reach their fitness goals.

Mary Jo Cambridge is owner and trainer at the Alaska Training Room.

"For the past 15 years I have dreamt of providing an environment that could merge the elite athlete and the Sunday athlete in complete harmony and camaraderie. Group interval training that is based on the latest evidenced-based science has always been, to me, the most motivational way to train. Some say, 'misery loves company,' but I say, 'the more the merrier,'" Cambridge writes on her website, www.alaskatraining- room.com.

Cambridge brings to Homer more than 25 years athletic training experience. Most recently, she worked as head athletic trainer for the United States Tennis Association and trained many Junior and Pro athletes at both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon.

Among many other sports-related positions, she also was an athletic trainer and exercise specialist at the Palm Beach Institute of Sports Medicine in Boca Raton, Fla.

More information about classes and membership can be found at alaskatraining room.com or by calling 299-8505.
