The Mariners baseball season came full circle last Saturday with a 15-5 loss to Colony in Palmer. The Ms beat the Knights 13-6 earlier in the season, but lost control in the third of what would be a 5-inning game. Homer was hitting well off Colony's no. 1 pitcher and held a 2-1 lead halfway through the third. With two outs in the bottom of the third, Colony's batter struck out, but a passed ball allowed the batter to run to first base. That started a rockslide in which Colony scored 10 runs to take a 11-2 lead into the fourth. Homer scored 3 runs in the top of the fourth and held the Knights at bay until the bottom of the fifth, when they plated four runs and the 10-run rule took effect to end the game. Soldotna and Kodiak will represent the Northern Lights Conference at state in Palmer this weekend.
