Students appreciate opportunity

This letter is to thank the Homer Foundation for the grant given to Homer Flex High School from the Homer Incentive Trust Donor-advised Fund. Our school used this donation to travel across the bay for a six-mile hike where we learned about erosion caused by the 1964 earthquake and tsunami. We experienced first-hand the science of glaciers and forest plant succession.

Students were taught how to operate a tram in order to travel across water; they had to pull a rope in order to pull a tram car to and from both sides of the Grewingk River. Artistic abilities soared with the scenery of sunlight and lichen across the plains as well as bright blue glacier water flowing calmly through the river. Without the generous donation from the Homer Foundation, our class would not have been able to learn and experience these awesome spectacles.

With high gratification,

Desirae Tangman
