A Stroke Awareness Forum is 1-2 p.m. today at the Homer Senior Center. Sponsored by the South Peninsula Hospital Speech/Language Department, the forum is free and open to the public. For more information contact SPH Speech/Language Pathology at 235-0370.

About 795,000 Americans will suffer a stroke this year, yet most people in the United States cannot identify stroke warning signs or risk factors. Many strokes some studies indicate that up to 80 percent can be prevented through risk factor management. The public is invited to this forum to learn about the warning signs of stroke, risk factors, prevention and the importance of early treatment.
