Trails on tap this weekend
The Friends of Kachemak Bay State Park have a simple message to outdoor enthusiasts this week <> if you love your state park, come out Saturday and lend a hand for Homer Trails Day.

Trail crews will gather at the Seafarer's Memorial on the Spit at 7:30 a.m. Volunteers will break up into groups, with most headed for trails across Kachemak Bay and one back to the Diamond Creek trailhead.

Kachemak Bay State Park ranger Roger MacCampbell said work is slated for the Humpy Creek trail, the Saddle and Alpine trails near Grewingk Glacier, the Wosnesenki and Coalition Trails.

Volunteer should sign up with the state park office (235-7024), Mako's Water Taxi (235-9055), or the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge (235-6546).
