Plant a row for Pantry
Dear Editor,

What a fantastic response The Homer Community Food Pantry has received from our community. Thanks to the 15 businesses and 15 private donors who helped us raise funds in March and April. We have applied for the Feinstein grant. Thanks go to Spenard Builders Supply, Ulmer's, John's Corner Market, Petro Marine, Beachcomber's, Kathy's, Pudgy's, Smokey Bay Air, Bidarka Inn, Tech Connect and other businesses who have helped us in this effort. We appreciate you private donors also for your generosity and supportive notes.

We want to welcome the Elks as a new regular donor. Save U More and First Class Second Hand made a huge canned and dry goods contribution this month. The College Student Association also provided us with a delicious treat. Thanks for thinking of us.

You can help us in many ways: Plant a row in your garden for the Food Pantry this summer. Collected canned and dry goods (i.e., canned tomatoes and spaghetti noodles). Become a donor. Bring us pint-size containers, egg cartons, one-quart Ziploc bags and 16-ounce bottles. When you clean your freezers this spring, feel free to share your fish, etc. There will be a cooler on the chest freezer in the Methodist Church's basement you can place it in if you come other than on Mondays. Our community's support is vital to the operating of the food pantry. Thanks, folks!
