Several members of the Homer City Council said the proposed marine industrial classification does not match their vision of what the Spit is and could be. The plan does not include reference to hotels or gift shops and would limit drinking establishments. Kachemak Bay Senior Housing's application to the state for a $2.4 million grant to build a 24-unit housing project in Homer has been recommended for approval by the Alaska Department of Community Affairs.
