Under his own steam, Seldovia fisherman Higgy Higman and his canine companion begin their search for a winning fish in the Seldovia Human Powered Fishing Derby last weekend.

* Largest salmon, $150: Chris Lielo of Seldovia, 17 pound salmon;

* Largest halibut, $100: Toby Seville of Seldovia, 22.5 pound halibut;

* Largest gray cod, one-night stay at the Boardwalk Hotel: tie between Amelia Dillon and Allison Miller of Seldovia, each catching 5-pound cod;

* Most unusual fish, round-trip Smokey Bay Air: Mark Janes of Seldovia.

"I'm not sure what it was. It looked more like a sponge, but we gave him the prize," said Tim Dillon, event coordinator.

The grand prize drawing of a beautifully carved salmon by Scott Hanson went to Kirby Corwin or Seldovia.

"He donated it to the Lynwood Bar and Grill," Dillon said. "He'll make a plaque and every year put the name of the derby winner on it."
