The highlight of the meeting for many of the board members was a presentation by the Steering Committee for the Community MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership) project. This set a tone of community collaboration and innovation that lasted throughout the three days of meetings.
Board members felt the visits to South Peninsula Hospital, The Center, Birth 2 Three Infant Learning Program, CICADA and Haven House were very informative and impressive. The Homer United Methodist Church provided a great space for our community dinner. Visiting board members were very impressed with the number of people who attended and shared their community spirit.
As chair of the Alaska Mental Health Board and host for the meeting, I am very proud of our community.
