Join Homer's American Legion Auxiliary members in recognizing the sacrifice our veterans have made and wear a red memorial poppy this Memorial Day weekend. The auxiliary will distribute poppies at Safeway tomorrow and Saturday. Donations accepted to support local veteran's programs.For more information, call 235-3262.

Homer youth aged 12-14 who have never been to the other side of Kachemak Bay have a chance to win a trip by entering the Seabirds and Big Ice Adventure Trip art contest. Tomorrow is the deadline to enter art of any kind poetry, essay, artwork, photography, video, etc. Nature Rocks Homer will take nine youth for a boat trip around Gull Island and on a hike to the Grewingk Glacier Lake on June 20. Entry forms and information are available at the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday or by calling Carmen at 226-4659 or Lisa at 226-4617.

Pioneers of Alaska will hold a yard sale noon-5 p.m. on June 3 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 4 at the Kachemak Community Center.

Pier One Youth/Teen Theatre Camp for ages 5-18 begins May 31 at the Mariner Theatre. Applications and information are available at www.pieronetheatre.org or by calling 235-7333.

Help improve Hornaday and Bayview Parks by supporting Families First in the Acts of Happiness online contest. You can help by voting online each day through July 31.
