Homer Alaska - Letters

Are you being taxed unfairly?

Do you live outside of Homer but get your mail at a P. O. box in town? I do, and I recently discovered that our phone company (ACS) is collecting 4.5 percent in city sales tax from us because we have an in-city mailing address.

Since we cant vote in Homer, the city has no authority to tax us. Check your phone bill and see if you are paying a 4.5 percent local tax in addition to the 3 percent borough tax. Then call your phone company (1-800-808-8083for ACS) and tell them to stop adding this tax to your bill and to refund you the money they have already taken.

It pays to be vigilant. It only took me about 30 years to catch on to this. Lets see 40 bucks a year, say, for 30 years wow!
